Tammy

Tammy was raised by two loving parents who taught her about faith in Christ. She has 4 amazing children, 2 beautiful daughters-in-law, and a wonderful husband of 4 years. She recently became a “Gigi” to 4 precious grandchildren.

Tammy works as a special education aide and loves gardening and making jewelry.

In May 2023, just weeks before her first wedding anniversary, she felt an ache in her left breast. She always heard that pain didn’t indicate cancer, but her husband and friends encouraged her to get it checked. She was shocked to learn she had stage 1B triple-positive HER2 breast cancer despite no family history.

Her wedding anniversary was celebrated in chemotherapy. Her husband was at every appointment and procedure and was her rock, protector, and partner throughout the entire journey. “God knew I would need him at that exact time in my life,” Tammy says.

She chose DIEP flap reconstruction because implants weren’t an option. She looked forward to perky boobs, having breastfed 4 babies.

After surgery, recovery was a little more intense than she expected, but Dr. Derek Cody did an amazing job. “I’m beyond thrilled with the results, and so is my husband,” Tammy says.

She advises other women having reconstruction to ask questions, lean on God, and have a strong, loving advocate to help you navigate the journey. “I would 100% do it the exact same way if I had to. I highly recommend Crystal Clinic Plastic Surgeons and Dr. Cody every time,” she shares.

By walking the Pink Runway, Tammy hopes to encourage others on this journey that there is hope and you are stronger than you think!
