Loretta
Loretta has worked at the Timken Company as an analyst for 21 years. She has two amazing and beautiful daughters, Nicole and Megan. She also has an incredible grandson. In her spare time, Loretta loves to read, watch movies, and walk. Loretta was diagnosed in 2023 with HER2 negative breast cancer and 2B metastatic cancer in her lymph nodes. She was also diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma Stage 3B. She underwent a mastectomy of the left breast and the removal of 25 lymph nodes. She then had five and a half months of chemotherapy and 30 rounds of radiation.
Loretta chose not to have a double mastectomy; instead choosing to do a breast reduction on her right side with Dr. Shayda Mirhaidari since her left breast was being removed. After her breast reconstruction, Loretta feels more confident and more comfortable. She wanted both her breasts to be the same size following surgery, and between her prosthesis and the reduction surgery she was able to achieve that outcome.
Loretta advises other woman to do what is right for you – every cancer is different and you do not have to do what others have done. “I received good advice from Dr. Mirhaidari and she walked me through every step,” she says.
Loretta chose to walk the Pink Runway to share her story to anyone and everyone who may be going through cancer or being diagnosed. “We all need as much support as possible. Going through my journey I met many people who shared their stories and inspired me. If I can do the same thing to help that is my goal!”
