Deborah

Deborah is happily retired. She has 2 children who are the light of her life, a bonus son and daughter-in-law, and 5 granddaughters whom she adores.

Deborah was diagnosed with ER-positive stage 1 breast cancer after a routine mammogram in 2022. She had a double mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction with Dr. Derek Cody.

She says, “After careful consideration of my options, I opted for a DIEP flap. My hope was to look and feel as normal as possible, and I really do!”

She acknowledges that everyone’s journey is different, and no one wants to hear they have breast cancer. But if you do, trust your care team and focus on your recovery. Stay positive, be informed about all your options, and ask a lot of questions. You WILL have a lot of questions!

Deborah says, “Dr. Cody and his staff went above and beyond to guide and support my decisions from day 1. I am grateful, hopeful, and so blessed to have Crystal Clinic Plastic Surgeons, my family, and my friends support me on this journey.”

Tonight, she walks the Pink Runway in solidarity with other survivors and to offer hope to anyone facing a cancer diagnosis. “There is life after cancer, and you will have a new perspective!” she says.
