Angela

Angela is a single mom of two beautiful children – her son Dakotah is 20 and her daughter Paige is 17. She works full-time as an office assistant manager and loves spending time with her family and friends, as well as swimming and relaxing.

Angela found a lump in her breast in May, 2023 and found out that she had Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which was very aggressive.

She began chemo in August, 2023, and though the side effects were very difficult she kept pushing on – bound and determined to ring that bell for herself and her mother, who also had undergone breast cancer. On January 16, 2024 Angela had her last chemo and rang the bell! She will eventually have a complete hysterectomy as she discovered she was positive for the BRCA1 gene. She underwent a double mastectomy and an aesthetic flat closure in February, 2024.

“I knew what I needed to do to save my life. I had it set in my head from the beginning I was going to have a double mastectomy. I never wanted to hear again that I have cancer, so I did what I could to prevent it from coming back,” Angela said. She knows she made the right decision − although some days she misses her breasts and gets emotional – but knows she is beautiful no matter what!

Angela advises other women facing a cancer diagnosis to know that whatever decision they make is the right decision. “Follow your heart and do what’s best for you,” she says. “You are in charge of your own body!”

Angela feels very honored to walk the Pink Runway to show cancer that she won and she is a survivor!
