Alice
Alice has been married to her husband Bob for 31 years. Together they have four sons, one daughter, and three granddaughters. She works for Raya’s Tanning and is also an officer manager for a decking and window company. She loves traveling, especially to the beach! And she also loves dogs – especially German Shepherds!
Breast cancer runs in her family, and unfortunately, she has lost three cousins to breast cancer. Alice was diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. She underwent a double mastectomy, which took place ten years ago October 28, and ultimately had implant reconstruction surgery with Dr. Cody.
At the time of her surgery, she hoped to look like she did before her mastectomy, and now she loves her reconstruction. She also had a mastectomy tattoo done by Bombshell Tattoo in Pittsburgh, PA. “I finally feel whole again!”
Alice advises other women to surround themselves with good doctors, ask a lot of questions, and be informed of your options that are best suited for you. “Don’t sweat the small stuff!”
She chooses to walk the Pink Runway to show other women that there is light at the end of this dark tunnel and that you will be a better person, friend, and wife after this journey.
Alice is grateful for the kindness and concern of Dr. Cody and his office staff, especially Judy, Dr. Cody’s administrative assistant. “I feel like they have become family,” she says, “and I will forever be grateful to them!”
