Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Douglas S. Wagner, MD, is one of the newest additions to the Crystal Clinic Plastic Surgeons staff. An Akron native, he graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1981. Prior to that, he earned his undergraduate degree at Miami University (Ohio). He completed his general surgery residency at Akron City Hospital and his plastic surgery residency at New York University Hospitals. His additional training includes a fellowship in reconstructive breast surgery with Dr. Carl R. Hartrampf, Jr. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Wagner has more than 25 years experience as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. In addition to his medical practice, he is involved in research regarding the safety of silicone gel breast implants, and refinements in techniques to avoid complications in breast reduction, reconstruction and augmentation surgeries.
Outside of the Crystal Clinic, Dr. Wagner shares his experience and expertise with area medical students as a professor of plastic surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He also serves as the plastic surgery residency program director for Akron’s plastic surgery residency and is chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Summa Health System. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons (ACAPS) and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
In his spare time, Dr. Wagner enjoys running half marathons and competing in triathlons with his wife, Peggy Porter Wagner. He also co-founded the Dragon Dream Team, an organization that supports breast cancer survivors in the team paddling sport of dragon boating.
