Personal Information

A. Lawrence Cervino, M.D., is one of the founders of the Crystal Clinic.  The Crystal Clinic was conceived in the mid-1980s as a comprehensive center for both orthopaedic and reconstructive surgeries.  Because of Dr. Cervino’s diverse training, he was asked to join to help provide comprehensive care.

Dr. Crevino  grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania.  He traveled east for his education, graduating from Princeton University and then completing medical school at Columbia University in New York.  He then completed extensive residency in general and thoracic surgery at both Yale and the University of Pittsburgh.  Following his training, he was recruited by the armed forces as a surgeon and spent two years, one of which was as a trauma surgeon in Vietnam.  On return, he developed a keen interest in plastic surgery, so he continued his education in plastic surgery at the University of Rochester, with postgraduate fellowships in both hand and head-and-neck surgery.

Dr. Cervino  was recruited in 1974 to Akron, Ohio to aid in developing an academic residency training program in plastic surgery.  He spent his first 15 years in practice, doing reconstructive surgery in both adults and children, with an office at the Children’s Hospital.  Because of his extended training, he also continued to treat adult patients with head-and-neck cancers, hand injuries, skin cancers, including melanoma and cosmetic surgery.

With the inception of the Crystal Clinic, he relocated his practice to the Montrose area and confined his practice to adults only.  He maintains a broad interest in all facets of plastic surgery, including both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.  He remains extremely active, involved in academic and plastic surgery training, and holds numerous teacher of the Year awards.

Dr. Crevino and his wife Betty reside in Medina.  They have raised six children, and now enjoy six grandchildren (soon to be seven).  Dr. Cervino is involved in the community in numerous aspects and continues to care for all patients requiring both complex reconstruction and cosmetic surgery.
