The Procedure
Micropigmentation is a relatively new procedure in which organic pigment is embedded beneath the skin to add permanent color to enhance features of the body. The procedure typically takes 60 to 90 minutes to complete and is done on an outpatient basis. A local anesthesia with sedation is used to minimize discomfort.

Regulations & Warnings
Not all cosmetic micropigmentation is performed by qualified practitioners. Because of the necessary precautions and special sterilizing techniques needed for the procedure, many plastic surgeons recommend that micropigmentation be performed only by appropriately trained medical personnel.

Of course. You will be fully aware during the procedure, instructing the technician where you wish the color to be applied.

Recovery
Patients may experience a tingling sensation, pinkness and swelling at the application site. This should subside quickly and you may resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. Patients who have had eye applications may find their eyes produce excess tears and remain swollen for approximately 1–2 days. Ice compresses used on the eyes for 24 hours after the procedure will greatly reduce swelling. To avoid further skin irritation during healing, patients are usually advised not to wear makeup near the application site for the first few days following the procedure. Complete healing takes one to six weeks while pigmentation matures and reaches its final color.
